Information So you want to be a GW2 Officer?

    Im throwing together this thread to do a couple things.

    Firstly to let people know whats involved in being an officer and what they should know.

    And Secondly, for anyone intrested in being an Officer of any Rank, to speak up so they can get that taken care of.

    If your wondering what officer possitions are avalible, check the Guild Structure Thread. It will be updated with new officers as we get them.

    I will Categorize this best i can with Info needed for the various Ranks.

    General Info and Skills For All Officers

    1.) Make sure everyone is Representing GamerApoc at ALL times. For those that dont know, there is a Guild Currancy thats used to purchasing Guild Perks. You only get this Currancy when you are Representing the Guild. Yes this means you can be in MULTIPLE Guilds. This Currancy is called Influence and ALL Officers will be asked to know what its for for each division.

    2.) Know what Guild Buffs or Perks you have access to for your Division. You will want to have these avalible during large events to help you out and help the Guild Out.

    There is 4 Catagories for Spending Influence. Each one will have buffs or Perks for diffrent Divisions.

    PVE Uses Politics and Economy.

    PVP Uses Art of War.

    The Guild Leaders and Senior Officers will Decide the general Purchase Order. At first priority will goto Architecture to get the ability to Queue 2 Perks at a time then we will get the Guild Bank and Emblem. Then the Economics I and Art of War I will be trained and PvE will have 1 Queue Slot, and PvP will have the other.

    Divison Leaders will come to the Senior Officers and Leaders with requests for perks they wish to have and they will verify the request and Queue it up. There will be 1 PvP Senior Officer and 1 PvE Senior Officer that will have the Privileges to use the Guild Buffs since they take alot Time and Resources to Craft.

    So Officers who wish to hold EVENTS and have Guild Buffs during them, need to have thier division earn the influance to purchase the buffs. At first this will be slow im sure until we get upgraded, but i hope to have a surplus of influance saved up eventully that we can use freely.

    As an Officer in Guild Wars 2, there is alot to manage. You cant run a group in a game this sophisticated by yourself. Its impossible, and thats why we need Officers to help. Alot of thigns in this game take alot of time so Officers will need to have time and a schedule set up so we always have them on.

    EDIT: As of March 25th, this new info is additional. It may conflict with thigns said prior, but its all said based off new articles and videos from the latest press beta for GW2 so listen up.

    PvE:

    PvE looks the same as we have seen in Videos from last Beta. There is a nice TotalBiscuit video i added that talks about Event Cycles and how events tend to trigger other events and so you get chains of events. And events can be done by as many or few people as you want or have so feel free to all team up for big event chains.

    It also seems that world bosses are triggered by doing event chains and unknown conditions that once they are public info we can keep record of, but we can have a large group that runs around chaining events until the boss spawns and then down it as a large group and be happy. Obviously since it seems right now Teams can only have 5 people in them, we will need lots of people willing to be "Group Leader" roles to to massive event runs and what not because that seems to be a standard method of leveling as there is always events going on.

    Other than that there is 2 Dungeon vids so far that showcase 1 Dungeon, Ascalon Catacombs. It seems to require alot of teamwork and awareness, so those are goign to be avalible at various lveels but since everyone is scaled to the level of the dungeon and gets xp relitive to thier level, ANYONE can group up and do them fairly easally. (though the devs said that they reccomend you at least be the minimum level or close to it) but you can be as high level over and still get nice XP scaled down.

    Once there is more info for Events and World Bosses and Raids you PvE Officers can figure out what you need to be doing.

    PvP:

    There was a writer who did an artical on World vs World pretty in depth, i added the article to the Videos and info Thread so check out the changes there.

    Basiclly in this Article he talks about the complexities of WvWvW and the tactical nessicity needed to be as efficent and effective as possible. In WvWvW you have 3 targets, Keeps, Towers, and Supply Camps. With 3 targets, you need various roles for the diffrent targets. He talks about this a bit ad im going to work off that with general Team concepts to give PvP Officers an idea of what groups you would need so people (the group leader ranks) can have a task they enjoy and do it effectively with others. Ill start with small targets and work to big.

    Supply Camps

    These get supplies from a camp (there being a couple on each side) and travel them down the road to the various structures to give them supplies for them to build and repair defenses. While they travel, npc mobs will attack them as well as other cleaver teams. They can be upgraded with guards to give defense aginst npcs but it seems those arnt very effective aginst players. So a smart team will defend thier supply caravans and attack the enemies supply caravans. A dumb team will do neither. So haveing groups to defend ours and attack thiers will be critical to ensuring we have supplies to upgrade and they dont.

    Key Skills Nessicary to Defend would be defense and damage with maybe some crowd control. Since your following a NPC Caravan id imagine its slow so boosting your speed isnt an issue.

    Key Skills Nessicary to Attack would be High Damage and Mobility. Your gonna want to be able to get around the field fast and kill them and get to the next one. MAYBE would need some defense if they have player guards too.

    Towers

    Towers i would imagine woudlnt quite have the defense that a Keep has and is probably smaller, so in general for attacking and defending its pretty straight foward. Towers will probably change hands often as they are easyer to get into than Keeps and are so plentyfull, but you still want a good defense. And since you can get into the Tower while its being attacked and defend it, it wont require constant protection. But when it is attacked or defended you will want certin thigns.

    Attack Skills would include a mix of nice Melee DPS for the Door, with some AoE damage to use on the walls aginst defenders, with some high Single Target Ranged DPS for taking out specific players on the walls or defense weapons. A Target caller for this would probably be most effective to DPS down the wall huggers fast.

    Defense Skills would be some nice AoE Range DPS to keep people off the door, maybe a little Range Single Target to try to take out others, then some Melee guys manning defenses and int he case of a breach, they can hop down and melee down the crowd of people.

    KEY NOTE - As far as they have said, you can only rez at Waypoints or if people rez you, and in the Yogscast WvWvW vid they doesnt look to be any waypoints at the towers, only at keeps. So killing players at Towers and making sure they stay dead means they have to run back.

    Keeps

    Keeps are big, and Important. And if a Keep is being assulted that we own, we will want every avalible man there to defend it as getting it back will be a nightmare. Defending and Attacking the keeps will go just like the Tower defense so a healthy balance of all roles.

    Important thing to note is Keeps seem to have Multiple ways in as the Yogscast Video shows, so making sure all gates are defended or attacked can help ensure victory. Ide imagine if we could effectively knock down 2 doors and get in and kick some ass then they wont be able to stop us. On the reverse, we need to make sure to defend all doors properly.

    Additional Info

    Crafters are still going to be important as there is only 2 allowed per character. Everyone can harvest but only crafters can use it. So having a couple crafters from each proffesion would be nice. There is 10 proffesions i think, so a hefty amount of people. And additionally you will need mats so maybe there can be Harvesters that go get mats to to help.

    Class Officers will be useful still as having people who know the ins and outs for classes will be a MAJOR help to all people because Skill Point purchases are permanent and even though the devs said you will have more than enough to get all the skills you want by the time your max level, you still dont want to miss out on very benifical leveling skills or what not that could make your life as a lowbie much easyer. So ideally we would want a couple of class officers for each class. maybe 4 elemenatlist officers as they are by far the most complex class with 20 weapon skill kit possibilities. (weapon kits being your weapons equipped plus your element attunement)

    A lot of people are going to want to be officers, understand that while not all can be an officer, but all can still be a crucial impact on the guild. Dont be discouraged if you arent elected, and remember that things change as well!, and the leadership can also change. With the game having yet to be released nothing can be set in stone.

    Each of us has our own individual strengths, and many of us may not know the others.

    I'm not a direct leader by any means. I am more of a lead follower if that makes sense, should our GM need something done, i'm the kind of guy to get it done. Give respect, get respect. When things need to get done, they get done, dont expect me to be sensitive to your feelings. We're representing ourselves, our guild, and gamerapoc.

    I am interested in applying for a PVP Team Leader position. Thats the only thing RelentlessRice and I do in games, lol.

    I second Nirack's Motion for a PVP team leader or Officer role. I take PVP very serious. Nothing better than rolling some fools. I have been known to raid but my main focus is PVP!!!!

    From what its lookin like, were gonna need a good 8-12 teams of 5 to be effectivly prominant in WvWvW so we will definatly need guys leadig those teams. Whether it be attacking thier resources while attacking thier towers, or defending our resources while defending our tower, were gonna need bodies to throw in there.

    But everyone whose intrested in any role siwll be considered for sure. Plenty of room so no one should orry much. THe only complicated part will be figureing out Senior Officers to help Run the Guild, but that will definatly be something myself and others will have to work out.

    Ok guys with beta just a day away, i would like to start getting together people intrested in being officers.

    What i think we will do for now while its still in beta is have everyone intrested in being an officer, give an officer rank in the guild, and just see how thigns go.

    Since its beta there isnt anything to loose and having help tossin invites or what not would be appreciated.

    So if your intrested in being a GW2 officer at launch, post here and hit me up in vent. Then tommorow when the game is live ill make GamerApoc and get that set up so officers can ivnite and such and we can do this.

    The guild wont be run by a single person, there will be a handfull of people running things. 3-6 people, the Senior Officers.

    Thats what im looking for, Senior Staff.
